Personal thoughts...sorry :)
We're approaching our moving date to Savannah (9 days to be exact) and it's time to start figuring out how we're going to pack and what we need to throw out...since we're downsizing a bit. But as I bide my time at my job and at our "old" home, I decided to make a list of what I'm looking forward to and not looking forward to about the move.
What I'm looking forward to about moving...
1. living in a historic downtown
2. starting school..a new direction..a new path..
3. using my bike as transportation
4. being far, far away from a college sports town
5. living close to the ocean
6. our own backyard
7. decorating our new space
8. warm winters
9. many visitors :)
10. connecting with new people and places
What I'm not looking forward to about moving...
1. starting school (i'm not a big fan of being vulnerable in new situations)
2. super hot summers & the potential for ghosts (eek!)
3. being further away from my family
4. the actual cost of the whole ordeal
5. heavy lifting

please please please go on a Ghost Tour of the city! I promise it will be creepy (which i know you love ;) ), but I also promise you will learn valuable tidbits about your new city! they are also super fun to go on with friends! am i a weirdo???? oh and the tour we went on in Asheville was a Bar/Pub crawl... which was even better!
Good luck and I'll be sure to find a time after the wedding for a visit! I've never been to Savannah!
ohhh......i love visiting savannah....i hope you will be very happy there...and that the adjustment time is short!
Sounds like the pros out way the cons!
Best of luck with your packing and your move! Savannah sounds beautiful :)
Packing always stinks, but the moving to a new city sounds so fun! Esp. Savannah. When I went there to visit I really think I caught a picture of a ghost - stay away from dark areas! But, overall it is such a great city and I'm sure the ghosts are friendly!
No need to be sorry!! Else I never would have known that one of my biggest sources of inspiration is moving a short drive away from me! If you're in need of a crafty, photographing bud- i'd be happy to explore Savannah with you.
savannah?!?!? HOW EXCITING!!! omg! moving sucks, but get it done and get to the good stuff.
and i LOVE that top flower shot. adorable.
You'll be okay :)
Change is hard, but it sounds like you are making a really positive move. I wish you all the best!
In a couple of months you won't remember all of the heavy lifting and crap that goes along with moving - you'll just have those pros in front of you. Sounds like a fabulous adventure.
I know the process of moving isn't fun, but I wish I could do what you're doing. Both my job and my husband's requires that we stay here in DC, and neither of us can really what we do anywhere else (without a serious career change), so at times I feel a bit trapped here. I have daydreams of moving to San Francisco or Charlottesville or Savannah, none of which are anything close to a real possibility. Moving is going to be a royal pain for the next couple of weeks, but I know you're going to love it once you get settled in. And don't worry about the summers - I grew up in Florida and it's really not that bad. :)
so soon! good luck and keep your mind on all those pros!
Fun! I've lived in Savannah for about 3 years, and it is a beautiful city.
When you get here you should take the Ghost Tour Pub Crawl... it will help you get more aquainted with the fun bars, and its a little spooky! Also, check out the Distillery (distillerysavannah.com)- best bar in town!
Welcome to the Queen City :)
Feel free to email me if you want more info on getting around: everydaykg at gmail
way to be positive with the positive list, they all sound lovely!
i'm not a big fan of change but something like a move seems so exciting -- the unknown and the newness and CHANGE of it all. ;)
i'm not sure if i've read what you're going back to school for but that is great! looking forward to hearing lots more about it!
Just for the record, Whitney dear, I am very sad.
i'm curious about your new place - you must post pictures! i lived on west park street for awhile, and on east 33rd street after that (and on whitemarsh island in between). savannah is an interesting world.
oh and ps: i never saw any ghosts - so don't worry! the bugs bothered me more than any mysterious apparitions ... actually i think i would have preferred ghosts! ;-)
