What I Wear and Why
Friday, March 13, 2009 I was apprehensive to begin my Daily Wear series. Like I've said before, it's strange to take photos of yourself and can take a lot of preparation to not look like a mess. Now I've truly come to enjoy sharing my ensembles and style -- another little piece of what makes me, me.

I was inspired by mounds of "wardrobe remixes" found on Flickr to begin cataloging my daily outfits. Shopping and styling are creative outlets for me just like photography, decorating, etc. Fashion and personal style are just part of the story of who your are - they speak of your personality and allow for an expression of individuality.

I will admit that I have one too many pairs of jeans and about 25 too many shirts -- but as I scan through my closet I know that I hardly ever buy things at full price (I only occasionally see something at full price that I can't quite live without and sometimes prefer to splurge on a good pair of jeans for that perfect fit). But mainly I shop at "mall" stores on the racks in the back, the clearance rack. It's just not a necessity to spend everything you have to look and feel good - find it cheap and make it your own.

It has been interesting to see the reaction on Darling Dexter and on flickr where I post all of the photos. There are days when I have outfits that are hits while other days are just boring flops. Regardless of the day-to-day popularity in my choices, it pushes me to be more creative with my clothing and really forces me to wear all of my clothes instead of letting some just hang there wasting space (or convincing myself to go out and by something new).

So what I am I getting at here -- you know, what is the purpose in all of this after all? It really just comes down to this: I only seek to share and inspire -- thanks for continuing to do that for me!

dude - rock on, to be completely honest - that's one of my fave pieces of your blog! i just moved from new york (where the fashion is plentiful and i was working for martha stewart) to tel aviv, israel - where the fashion is "lacking." i'm living in the land of turquoise eyeliner, skater-girl sweatshirts and push-up bras, and your brooklyn-esque wardrobe keeps me sane a lot of the time. my mother is bringing me a sewing machine in july - keep the ideas coming!

I'm a fan of the series - It's good to try to re-imagine how existing pieces can be used together. I also love the first girl's hair, so pretty!!!
OK, dex...in the back of my mind i've been on a mild mission to find something YOU would actually wear. As you know, we have completely opposite styles. :) This is what I came up with: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3594/3351238447_658ecc9bbb.jpg
Architectural, earth tones...slightly toned down from my normal picks...eh? Am I even close? (disregard the pajamas underneath)
I adore archibald maximillion, her dress over pants looks are the best!
