Thank you, 2010
I can't believe this year. Not only because of how fast it has flown by but because of everything that happened within it. Whew, what's next for 2011? Top that, sir.
A look back over the past year...
Most significantly we moved, we bid farewell to sweet Savannah and moved on to New York -- where I jumped into a fashion design program and we squeezed ourselves into a tiny apartment in the East Village. I still can't believe how we fit into such a small space.
but alas, in June we made the jump over to Brooklyn and haven't looked back. We love our little cozy Park Slope apartment.
We were terrified/excited to relaunch our family photo business over again in a new region. Somehow the stars aligned, and we were fortunate to photograph the most genuine and down-earth couples out there. I'm still pretty humbled by these people for trusting in us and I can hardly wait for what's in store for next year.
Since I started college the first time around (quite a few years ago), I always had in the back of my head this desire and genuine interest in apparel design. I even made a resolution at the beginning of 2009 to really push my sewing abilities into a better proficiency. So it really feels good and it feels right, designing and making clothing. It completely satisfies an area of making that I felt previously lacking. With two semesters behind me from Parsons, I can finally drape, make patterns, and sew my little fingers off and I'm eager to see how my aesthetic and skills evolve over the next year. Here's a photo of one of my final pieces this semester.
I finally opened up a small shop to sell my wares! Unfortunately, I got a little busy and was only able to make one seasons-worth. But I have so me thoughts swimming in this head right now -- definitely more to come in 2011.
So lastly I'm just thankful I had the chance to share the year with this guy...
