Handmade Coffee Table

We've been ready for a while to get a new coffee table so we settled on just making one for ourselves. We picked up two pieces of reclaimed wood from Build it Green NYC, a few pipes from the local hardware store and spent about an hour putting it all together.

I would have loved to see some hairpin legs on that table to really show off that fabulous wood. Something like this:

How did you attach the legs to the top of the table? I see where he was screwing a strip of metal; what was that for?

The strip of metal was to connect the two pieces of wood. As far as attaching the legs to the table -- the base of the pipes have holes to put screws into..hope this helps!
