Marimekko
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 I'm taking a fashion branding course and was recently assigned Marimekko as the topic for a project -- I was definitely familiar with the array of textile design from the company but had never really explored the clothing design. After searching the Marimekko website, I was in love with the clean and simplistic lines of the garments. The two dresses below really stood out to me, I loved their character despite the lack of color.

I am a HUGE fan of Marimekko, I even have Marimekko paper napkins in my kitchen! And yes, I agree, their dresses are purely beautiful

I adore Marimekko. I was lucky enough to catch one of their spring '09 fashion show in Helsinki, which was very colorful. Have you checked out the gorgeous dresses that the 2008 Finnish Olympic team (females that is) got to wear? Unfortunately, when I got to the Marimekko store in downtown Helsinki, they were out of my size of that particular dress. :(

Marimekko in a dream, their fabrics are amazing!!!!! They definitely are an inspiration for me and I wish one day I could buy something from their brand!
My, these are lovely.
I really like the striped dress! However, it doesn't look like it fits the model very well. In the neckline area, I mean. It's a beautifully simple style, though.

I really love that stripey dress :) being Finnish Marimekko is very familiar to me, it's one of those brands that pretty much everyone has in their homes or wardrobes over here :)
