Vintage Desk

This looks like the perfect sewing table -- sturdy enough so that nothing rattles, yet still awesome.

i love the use of that shelf to de-clutter the actual desk space.

Seriously jealous! Whenever I sew I always have to clear off some surface in my apartment. So jealous of a dedicated sewing workspace!

What a stylish workplace!

What a great desk - plus lots of space! Also - if you get a chance please pop on by to discuss being a creative entrepreneur - would love your input!

Ahh, the tanker desk. It's so durable and yet so classic. I was lucky enough to refinish a tanker desk this past fall...best $60 ever spent!

I actually found that exact desk on my craigslist for $50! I hope to snatch it up this week. I love when my design eye is justified from pretty photos from internetland. :) Since I don't sew (yet) it will be my work/school desk. Still perfect, and pretty and nice round corners for the littles. haha!

Thanks so much for sharing!

Oh, a tanker desk was my home office obsession last year. It's so huge, I could work on it all day...but it's also very, very heavy to move!

My wife used to have a desk just like that in Los Angles! Sadly, we had to sell it when we moved to New York.

Woo! That's my desk! Thanks for the lovely comments, and to Darling Dexter for posting it. I got the tanker desk off of ebay for a super low price. It's the perfect sewing table - WIDE and tons of deep drawers for storage. I can't recommend them enough - I also have a half-size tanker as my computer desk. Both are Steelcase from the sixties/seventies.

For those afraid of the size/weight - they come completely apart! Some screws and bolts and you can fit a 30"x40" desk into a honda accord! (I swear!)

In response to the ashley's comment - sharp eye! - I installed that shelf especially for that purpose, I can't stand "desk creep" - the stuff along the back that multiplies and shrinks your work space, better to get it up on the wall.
