Vintage Magazine Covers

I can't get over these vintage magazine covers -- it's so nice to see a cover not cluttered with text. Each image has something to say and only a small caption to accompany it. It's definitely interesting how the older covers are like pieces of art, something you might frame and put on your wall, while what we see today is the complete opposite.

Agree, also those colour schemes and fonts are great.

Agreed. I have a Harper's Bazaar framed and am always on the hunt for more that speak to me!

These colors and covers are amazing! Good finds.

Ah, isn't it amazing?! Totally more intriguing without all the copy. Plus, every magazine says the same thing on the cover anyway. Stick with the simplicity of beautiful photos and you've got me hooked!

And the models!..With an anonymous model on the cover we can insert ourselves into the fantasy. Much better marketing, I think, than YET ANOTHER cover with Jennifer or Drew.

They are very minimalistic, aren't they – quite the contrast to modern vogue etc in their desperation to sell themselves with exclamation after exclamation. I actually like the 'Seventeen' covers the best – so pretty.

I never thought about how cluttered the covers of modern day mags are -- the covers you've featured are lovely! I say the mag editors go back to the way they used to be for a throwback!

Oh, I love the Seventeen "Boy Meets Girl" cover. What a different ideal than what is seen today, and that dress is amazing.

Wow, these are impressive without even trying to be. Marketing is such a huge part of the world of periodicals today. I really wish just one would take a simple approach. It would make it stand out over any other cover. That, would sell magazines.

Those are beautiful. Clean and simple. You're right, such a stark contrast to what's on the shelves today. I wonder if any of the editors of these publications have ever considered going retro -- even for just one issue.

Have to agree with the others. Seventeen's ""Girl Meets Boy"" cover has to be my favorite, but that doesn't say that the others are far off the beaten track. Great finds!
