Can Garden
This summer when we're living on open land, I've pretty much made up my mind that I want to plant blueberry bushes. It's my absolute favorite fruit, and the bushes are so plentiful compared to the overpriced pints at the grocery store. But what else should I get my green thumb into?
I saw this idea pop up in my internet land two days in a row and I just had to share. I love how simple can gardening is...could be for yourself or as a gift.

Makes me to want to go to buy cans only to get my balcony to bloom as beautifully (though here it is a bit too early still). Lovely finds.
Windy but sunny greetings from Finland.
I love this!! However, I will say this: most cans have a lining made up of BPA plastic. It can leech into your food and it's not good for you. So, I would be careful when growing food in these types of containers. You can google BPA to learn more about it. I work at a health food store so the nerd in me kinda came out on this one...sorry. It's a beautiful project otherwise!

thanks for the tip julie! very good to know!
How fun! I love the colors of those cans!
so pretty, i love it!
great idea. i also saw something similar last week where a person used wine crates to house their garden.
I have a collection of cans set aside for a sunny day to be spray painted for this very purpose! I'm going to try to spray a chevron pattern on some of them and turn them into upside down planters.

I love this idea! Thanks so much for sharing. Good luck with your blueberry bushes! I can't wait to see how they turn out. I've tried planting them but unfortunately the deer get to the berries quicker than I do!
my parents always planted green peppers. another one of those bountiful, cheaper than the grocery, vegetables.
Love this idea. It's very environment friendly and economical too!

What a fantastic idea! I love how they look hooked up to a wall!
Gorgeous! I can't wait for gardening season here in Montreal : )
I love this idea, especially with the bright colors of the tins! Any recommendations for paints that will last outside? I can't wait to try this out. And the blueberry plants idea is adorable!
What a cute and useful idea. Thanks for sharing. Those cans and their contents are so colorful and lovely.
Wonderful post! I plant my own vegetables at my house. Healthy eating need not really be expensive at all as you can really grow your own!
Great DIY idea! Thanks for sharing. I'm still waiting for Spring to bloom here in Canada, but I'm already planning my little balcony "garden". Painted cans are now in the mix. Thanks!
this is SO perfect for a city dweller like myself - I think i'll line a wall of my small porch with these clever beauties!
Wait - how are these attached to the wall like that?
I just love this idea of using colored cans as small plant containers.
This is a great way to accent an otherwise dull looking outside wall or privacy fence and to give it a totally new and fresh look.
I guess from now on I will collect those cans since I was looking for a way to decorate at least a part of my long and 6ft high privacy fence.
Oh my gosh! I love these! I don't have plants because I'm terrible and forget to water them. But these make me want to give them a go. Thanks!
These are wonderful, definitely makes me want to plant more!
I.Love.This.
I planted flower seeds in tin cans in april. So far nothing of the flower can be seen, but I am optimistic! :) I think it is a great way to plant flowers and also a very pretty one!
i LOVE those three colors together so unexpected and pretty
Okay, so I've finally posted up pics of my upside down planters made out of paint cans!
