Creative Resolutions

I feel especially jolly about this upcoming year so I have decided to create my own list of "creative" New Year's resolutions. Hopefully these will serve as a palette for inspiration throughout the year!

1. Get letterpress up and running (this is the priority considering I have a few wedding invite orders on the way)

2. Purchase more books (I fall victim to putting all of the design books I find on amazon into my wish list and then nothing comes of it!)

3. Take more photographs (my new digital SLR should fix that!)

4. Participate in a local craft fair (I know this a long shot, but maybe if I can buckle down and actually finish making something in some type of quantity...)

5. Focus on blog (I love sharing my thoughts and inspiration with you guys, I am really hoping to take it to another level this year!)

Hello 2008!

After a long and lovely vacay, I am back. I spent the last two weeks visiting with family, relaxing, celebrating, and most importantly...not working. I had the chance to do a little shopping, attend a wedding, open the new year with a bang, and register for my own wedding :-) yay!

For an appropriate introduction to the new year I spent the day organizing what I like to call "my world." I am of course referring to the side of the office where I keep my stuff. FINALLY, everything is nicely labeled and neatly put into place. Maybe this is a sign of a rather productive year, let's hope so!

Incomplete X-mas gift!

Remember all of the fabric swatches that were generously donated to me a couple of months ago? Well I TRIED to be productive and create a Christmas present out of some of them, but it didn't happen. For about a week, I worked diligently to get squares cut to make a quilt for my brother, but with life going on at the same time, my project got pushed to the back-burner. So, I decided I would share with you the beginnings of my quilt project! I hope to have it completed in March, just in time for my brother's birthday :-)
Here, I sorted through the mounds of fabric to find patterns/colors that were similar to one another. This may seem like fun but the annoying part of acquiring fabric samples is that you have to go through and pull apart the staples that bind the color options together, blah!
Like usual, my dog had to get in on the action! For some reason he always has to be included on projects, especially those that take place on the floor :-)
Ta-da! My goal was to create a diagonal pattern so that the swatches on each diagonal had a similar color palette. That didn't come through as strong as I thought it would, but I still enjoyed the results.
There she is... To be continued... see you in the spring with a completed quilt! (fingers crossed)

Daily inspiration...

When I am trying to get into the creative zone on a rather dull day, sometimes I have to dig a little deeper to get a spark. I can usually grab an old-faithful book or magazine to get me started -OR- I can turn to the fabulous blog, print & pattern. This is one of my favorite blogs dedicated to surface design...oh how I love patterns! It contains image after image of prints, patterns, colors, and more...on every surface imaginable.

Ped Shoes

I apologize in advance for another post concerning online shopping but when I found Ped Shoes, I couldn't help but share! How interesting are these guys? I love shoes that stand out in a crowd (what girl doesnt, right?) but I found these to be particularly unique. Below are a few of my favorites but there is much more to discover on the website.

Voila!

I spent the evening buying gifts for Christmas and then ran straight home to try out the new wrapping paper....and ta-da! I like the way it turned out, my only dilemma was when I ran out of tape and I was forced to use glue (would not recommend it!).
