A Man's Shirt

I have been saying for months I would attempt to make the hub a collared-shirt and this weekend I finally did! It was so nice to be able to fit someone besides myself -- I'm pretty happy with the results and so is the hub. I used the Simplicity 5366 pattern, and by the way, just like the men's section is smaller in retail stores so is the sewing pattern section.

Happy Halloween!

I hope you have a great weekend and halloween! I'm sad to see October coming to an end, it's my favorite month of all, but time to look forward to the end of 2009.

These photos from Salem, MA creeped me out! The talented Jamie Beck was able to capture the spooky mood from this infamous place. Check out more of Jamie's stunning photos on her blog, From Me To You.

Furniture on Wheels

Although this isn't exactly my decorating style (and the hub would never go for pink walls), I love the idea of having furniture lifted by casters. Not just for the ease of cleaning but for the ease of rearranging...so many possibilities without heavy lifting.

Fair!

The hub and I made a trip out to the Savannah Fair tonight (on free admission night of course). The weather was amazing, clear skies at 73 degrees. Lovely. We didn't actually ride the rides, just watching them scares the bejesus out of me - but they are a lot of fun to photograph. See more fair favorites on our Oh, Darling! blog.

Nosideup: Stella

I'm not sure if I love the illustration or the description better...

"She just had this feeling. It was more than a feeling, it was a sense of certainety. She knew today was going to be one of the best days of her life. She could smell the spring, the sun felt insistent from the other side of the window. She looked around her once more, before stepping outside. Swelling with happiness, she played Rodrigo and Gabriela louder on the iPod. She was almost bouncing down the street. Whatever was about to happen, she didn't know. But she knew it was good. She loved the world, and the world loved her."

5, 6, 7, 8

When I saw Suann's post about Bloch shoes last week, I nearly squealed. Okay, no, I'm not much of a squealer but you get the point. I grew up a dancer and Bloch was my pointe shoe of choice and to see their selection of everyday flats made me quite happy.

Where we blog from...

I simply love the "Where we blog from" series that Jane does on her blog, I'll Seen, I'll Said -- and I was stoked to share my little space today :)

Goodbye sunny evenings, see you next year.

I would say I'm generally a day person. I'm all about natural light and rooms flooded by the sun -- but there's something about the arrival of fall that makes me melt. It's nice to watch the sun quickly fall away and take night walks through town under the street lights...

DIY Skinny Jeans

I saw this DIY skinny jeans tutorial on Freshly Picked and knew I had to try it out. I had the perfect pair of boot-cut jeans by Paper Denim & Cloth that I couldn't part with but didn't necessarily enjoy the cut. I even tried to hem them at one point and it went terribly wrong. So, I gave this technique a go and was so pleased with the results.
