More books.

More books, less twitter...am I right? Well in any case, we recently purchased a few new books that I have flipped through about 50 times already.

My Mother's Clothes - Jeanette Montgomery Barron
A daughter chronicles her late mother's exquisite clothing and prized possessions. I love this book, for the photos, for the clothes, for the story.

Photobooth - Babbette Hines
My hub's mother brought this to us as a gift when she came to visit recently -- very appropriate, right? You guessed it, it's a library of old photobooth images.

Orla Kiely: Pattern - Orlay Kiely
Not really sure if this one even needs a description -- it's an inside look into the brand told by the designer herself. Lots of great eye-candy.

The Small Stakes: Music Posters - Jason Munn
A book dedicated to the work of Munn -- all music posters...with an amazing amount of metallic printed ink.

Brooklyn Diary - Lena Corwin
This book has been circulating the blog world for good reason. A wonderful guide to this lovely borough.

Days with my Father - Phillip Toledano
I first saw this online -- my hub loved it so much we purchased the book.

Handcrafted Modern - Leslie Williamson
What more could you ask for? A book dedicated to the lived-in homes of mid-century designers.

Favorite New Things

I've had time over the past few weeks, time to relax and catch up. Here are a few things that have kept me occupied.

When Ellie blogged about this book (The Art of Manipulating Fabric) weeks ago, I promptly headed to B&N and purchased it. Who knew there were so many ways to twist, ruffle, tie, and pleat fabric. Talk about eye candy.

On a recent trip to Providence, I picked up this vintage sewing manual at a thrift shop. Enough said, right?

And a little something I've been cooking up. I fell in love with this double-faced jersey knit fabric (certified organic) and had to design something to make out of it.

Good news, I'm planning on opening up my shop in a few weeks with a few summer garments! Stay tuned.

Flickr Group: Handbound Books

Flickr Tuesday is one on my favorite blogging themes. I love any excuse to sift through flickr and its bounty of photos... and today I am highlighting a flickr group called "Handbound Books."

Printing Books

So my fiance, Dustin, has been in major letterpress mode the last few weeks and stumbled across a couple of retro printing books at the NC State library. Although they probably have useful information inside, I couldn't help but be fascinated with the design of the covers! Old books can be such nice treasures...

Print + Palette

Print + Palette Sourcebook 2 is a book I got for Christmas and love it! It is a great resource for vintage yet contemporary color combinations as well as an inspiring handbook for interesting patterns. Below are a few pages from the book.

DIY Wedding

I am a DIY (do it yourself) kind of girl so it comes as no surprise that when I found a book entitled The DIY Wedding, I just had to buy it!

"The DIY Wedding blasts a breath of fresh air into the commercial, cheesy world of wedding planning. I would have saved many months of headache and money if I had it when I was engaged!" - Natalie Zee Drieu

This book focuses on putting your personal priorities first to create a wedding that is just simply you. I would highly recommend it to any brides out there who want to do it there way and save money.
