Simple in the bedroom.

You know how you'll have a crazy few days that turn into a hectic week or two ... the hub and I have been experencing one of those weeks. The work load piles up and there are too many plans on the calendar, but I'm trying not to complain. Admist the chaos, we try to always keep our home (where we live and work) a simple and clean place and the bedroom is the best place to follow through with that. 

We're still using ikea hacks as nightstands but recently framed a pair of our photos to hang by our bed. They're his and her landscape compositions from trips we took together last year.

Why I <3 White Paint

I stumbled across a photo of our house before the mini-renovation we had before moving in last summer. Whoa, thank god for white paint. When we decided to move in to this house, we were still living in NYC and had about zero furniture or furnishings, so I wasn't really in a decorating mood. I asked my father-in-law to paint the whole thing white, trim and all. 

Aside from the white paint, the doors/windows were replaced...and the light just streams in..

House Snippets

I've had a hard time getting around to sharing more of our home because it has taken awhile to actually finish decorating. Projects seem to last too long and furnishings seem to be too expensive... but nevertheless it is coming along! We're hoping to get it in shape before the fall but here are a few new snippets..

A house in progress.

So we're working on it. Trying to get this three bedroom ranch house into a cozy home, but we are still a ways off. I thought I'd share a few photos with you, proof that I actually have a house :)

And meet our new (old) girl Bandi. Dustin's mother recently moved into a condo and wasn't able to take her 15-year-old border collie with her, so we brought this girl into our house. She's been an outside dog her whole life but has had no problem being spoiled with indoor heat and a cozy bed.

We just purchased a light grey sofa, but dang, I love the way a blue sofa looks... Oh well.

A Dining Space

In our little house that we're renting in North Carling this summer, we have something that we've never had before...a dining room. Astonishing, right? Of course it's not that strange to be without one in NYC, but even when we were stationed in Savannah, Ga and Chapel Hill, NC -- still, no dining room. You could imagine that I'm a tad bit excited to have a more normal dining experience at home and I've been on the hunt to create that room.

Here are a few things that have peeked my interest but I'm afraid it is leaning a little too modern. The hub and I really try to blend the old with the new when we decorate, so I'm a little stuck on which direction to go in. Any thoughts out there on blending styles?
