Final Dance Party

So I believe I have exhausted every detail of my wedding. From the preparations and invitation-making adventures to our bon voyage departure flags, I've hit the end of the road. I've enjoyed sharing my ideas with all of you and hope you gained inspiration from my little details. All we ever wanted was for our wedding to represent who we are as a couple and I think we accomplished that--and I hope you gained that impression from my wedding posts.

I'll leave you with the best part of the wedding--the dance party. After extended family and friends had their grub and found their way to the exit, all that was left at our wedding reception were the people we love so dearly with their dancing shoes on....oh, what a night :)

Our Wedding Location

We were pretty sure from the beginning where we would get married--Dustin and I were raised in a small town in western NC where both of our families are from. So it only seemed appropriate and simple... However, the selection of venues is VERY limited. We ended up going with an outdoor stage used for the bluegrass festival Merle Fest...we were married and then celebrated at the same location. It's basically a clean {rustic} slate where you have complete freedom for decorations. Restrooms, electricity, covered, outdoors, 2 miles from my mom's home...perfect.

DIY in Action

We took on a small chunck of DIY projects before the wedding--some more time consuming however, but all well worth it. Here are the details in action...
Programs blogged about here and here.
Gocco printed napkins blogged about here.
Guest book hang tags blogged about here.
Our fab departure flags! We also created all the bouquets, table runners, and the bridal party attire. Any DIY brides out there...I highly recommend planning ahead and getting a jump-start :)

Our Wedding Cake

I'm a strict white-on-white type of girl--so it was only appropriate for us to have a modest wedding cake for my taste and then a table full of different cakes/pies for the guests to choose from. My aunt and her close friend baked and iced our main wedding cake...yumm..straight up buttercream..to die for :)

Preparations.

Dustin and I made the choice to see one another before our wedding ceremony--for the sake of getting the party started sooner and to help calm our nerves...we were happy with our decision :)
